Many of us with large hands (and some that do not) find that full-size and compact models of the Glock tend to shoot a little high unless there is a conscious effort to keep the barrel down. This is due to the hump of the backstrap resting on the heel of the hand. Depending on the severity of the angle, this can be changed by either performing a complete reduction or by simply flattening the backstrap. Below are descriptions of some variations.

At left top is a portion of the frame of a Glock 35 that has had a trigger finger channel created which allowed the short-fingered user to easier reach the trigger. This is a popular modification on the .45ACP and 10mm Glocks because of the girth of the grip. Many find it too bulky to facilitate safe and comfortable gun handling.



The 2nd picture is a Glock 23 (top) with a complete reduction with stippled frame and grip.  I have long struggled with the grip on the Glock being slippery, no matter what I put on it. The new stippling process makes for an attractive, non-abrasive grip that is VERY secure even with wet hands. This a physically altering process and NOT a coating. Those of us with large hands and fingers find that the finger grooves are too small, creating an uncomfortable grip by forcing one or more fingers to rest on the humps instead of in the grooves as they should. Removing these grooves makes a much more comfortable grip,
The rounded trigger guard makes for a cleaner, smoother look and reduces "stumbling" on the trigger guard when the weapon is reholstered.

The 3rd picture is of a Glock 19 with full grip reduction and chop to G26 grip,  grip and mag bases fully stippled in TreeBark, forward "cocking" grooves and DuraCoated camo pink. This gun brought $1950 on the auction block for the  Friends of the NRA.

Here's a couple of G26's and a G27 that have had grip reductions and stippling. 

Even those with large hands will certainly appreciate the comfortable, secure feel of a reduced sub-compact. It's not a matter of whether your hands are big enough to comfortably hold the baby Glocks. It's more a matter of retention. If someone were trying to take it away from you, would you be able to easier retain a piece of a broomhandle or a piece of a 2"x4" board? That may be a little bit of an extreme example but it illustrates a point. The reduced grip of any sized Glock is comfortable, points more naturally and is easier to retain under adverse or hostile conditions.

The oval, extended magazine release.

Although we have long been an advocate of the Glock extended magazine release to replace the difficult to operate stock release, there is now an even better option. This innovative addition to your Glock extends out from the frame slightly more than the stock release but also extends back towards the rear of the frame about 1/4" allowing most shooters to drop the magazine without changing their grip at all. This requires a slight modification of the frame but does not compromise the strength or integrity in any way. The oval release is popular with left-handers because the larger surface is easier to push with the tip of the index finger.

Turn-around time should be 2 days or less and the cost includes parts and installation.

Forward "cocking" grooves.

The forward grooves are for safely performing a chamber check, or as some refer to it, a "press check". We strongly urge shooters to chamber a round by grasping the grooves at the rear of the slide from the top with the four fingers on one side and the heel of the hand on the other, pulling the slide all the way to the rear and releasing it in somewhat of a "slingshot" motion. We also recommend that one do a "chamber check" each and every time the weapon is loaded or any time the status of the weapon is subject to change. We do not recommend that you do this by grasping the slide at the top rear because of the possibility of inadvertently waving your hand in front of the muzzle in the process. While we recognize the dangers of EVER putting your hand in front of the muzzle and strongly advise against it for any reason, we feel that it is even more dangerous while doing a chamber check because of the likelihood of a round already being chambered. We teach our students to come up from beneath the gun, grasping the slide just forward of the trigger guard and easing the slide back far enough to visually and, during low-light situations, physically check your chamber. This procedure provides positive control of the slide reducing the chances of ejecting the chambered round and provides better visibility by placing the hand under the gun instead of on top.

There are 4 grooves on each side placed at about a 12 degree angle. We feel that this provides a little better purchase on the slide than vertical grooves due to the angle of the pull. The grooves on the left side are interrupted so as not to disturb the Glock logo or the model number but this does not affect the ability to obtain a good, positive grip on the slide.

Some manufacturers provide these grooves to begin with but, until Glock does, we will do it here. 

The Glock Dry-Practice Kit (trigger re-set kit).

Dry practice is the key to perfecting all of your weapon handling skills and trigger control is arguably the most important fundamental in your marksmanship training. The GLOCK DRY-PRACTICE KIT allows you to continually and safely dry-practice correct trigger press and reset as much as you like without ever re-setting your action! 

The procedure listed below MUST BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO when dry-practicing:

1. Choose a safe place with adequate backstop against which to dry-practice.

2. Remove ALL ammunition from the gun and your person and leave it in another room.

3. Tell yourself verbally that the gun is unloaded and safe to dry-practice with.

4. NEVER use a permanent target for dry-practice and remove your target when finished.

5. Limit your dry-practice sessions to 20 minutes with half-hour breaks in between sessions.

6. When you leave your dry-practice area and reload your weapon, tell yourself verbally that the weapon is loaded and is no longer safe to dry-practice with.

7. Do NOT immediately re-enter your dry-practice area!!

                                      Trigger Enhancements
The Glock is cursed with a less-than-acceptable trigger. It is grainy, rough and heavier than many of us like. We offer 4 levels of trigger enhancements to suit your individual needs.

  
• Level I is recommended for weapons that are used for personal defense/concealed carry. The trigger pull weight is not reduced but is much smoother and more controllable ................$35.00

• Level II is the same as Level I but a bit lighter trigger. A Level ll enhancement makes recreational target shooting more enjoyable and, in our opinion, still should not create a liability issue for personal defense with about a 4.5# trigger..........................................................................................................$50.00

• Level III includes more polishing and modifications of key parts to create less than 4# of pull weight on the trigger. We recommend this level for competitive shooting and hunting. We feel that this level is just a shade too light for a carry weapon although it may still be acceptable for the more knowledgeable and experienced shooter ......................................................................................................$65.00

• Level IV includes all of the Level III modifications in addition to complete fit-and-polish job removing all friction points and the replacement or modification of other parts for a crisp 2.5-3# trigger. We intend for this level of enhancement to be used for target and competition shooting and hunting only. It is light and smooth and is DEFINITELY NOT FOR A PERSONAL DEFENSE/CONCEALED CARRY GUN!
