EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY! Due to wide-spread ammo shortages, there will be some new policies implemented at SWSA. First, until further notice, certain calibers of ammunition will be rationed. Most affected will be the common defensive handgun calibers, .223 and 7.62x39. Second, as of 13 March, the requirement to use a centerfire caliber of at least .380 for ALL, defensive handgun classes will be lifted. Training with .22 handguns is infinitely better that not training at all. In some ways, it may be even be better. You can now shoot some or all of the classes with .22's. We would like to see you use your carry caliber for about 25& of the class but it will not be mandatory. The rifle classes already allow rimfires so nothing will change there. NEW CLASSES AVAILABLE STARTING IN MAY!! Due to ammo shortages and prices and the financial strain that professional training puts on many students, SWSA will now be offering 1-day rifle, shotgun and handgun skill-building classes. This is NOT a re-incarnation of our old 1-day program. These classes are beginning defensive weapons classes and are not pre-requisites to anything. However, we may occassionally schedule one on the day prior to a corresponding 2-day class but there will be no requirement to take either although it may be desirable to some. These classes are designed to provide people with a basic understanding of the safety, handling and shooting characteristics of their weapons. Marksmanship fundamentals, loading and unloading, malfunction clearances, proper maintenance and much more including basic self-defense principles and applications!! Great for the beginning student and a good refresher for the returning students. All the 1-day Skill Builders will be $175.00. The rifle and handgun Skill Builder will require 150 rounds of ammunition and the shotgun class will require 50 rounds of birdshot, 15 rounds of #4 or larger buckshot and 10-slugs |

Ammunition: Our ammo inventory continues to increase. We try to carry all popular calibers as well as some obsolete and a variety of foreign and domestic military surplus ammo. Shooting Accessories for all your hunting and shooting needs. Gun care and target shooting products, eye and ear protection, holsters, magazines, slings, bi-pods, and rifle rests to name a few. Tactical Equipment: We carry a variety of tactical gear by Camel Bak, Eagle, Blackhawk, Fobus, Safariland, Bianchi, Galco, Benchmade, CRKT, Kabar, Wilderness, 5-11 Tactical and others. We are a distributor for the incredible Blade Tech kydex holsters. Blade Tech has a vast line-up of kydex products and we keep a good representation of this line in stock. Defensive Weapons: Wide selection of pepper spray, tactical knives, self protection and tactical equipment, stun guns, and batons. Optics: Scopes, Binoculars, Range Finders, Lasers, and Red Dot Sights. Please bear in mind that we are still a relatively small store and have no aspirations of getting as big as Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop but our service and personal attention to each and every person that comes in won't be found at most of the box stores either. |

There are a number of topics available including our podcast, training, individual weapons forums, disaster preparedness, patriotic issues and much more.This forum is a place where you can just discuss these topics with each other or learn by asking questions and getting opinions from other members or the folks at Southwest Shooting Authority.
- THE CHOKEHOLD on AMERICA! Can it be broken? Southwest Shooting Authority will be
hosting a public information meeting at the Farmington Civic Center from 7 to 10 pm. Speakers will include Cope Reynolds, Guy Shepard, Senator Bill Sharer, Lt. Ken Christesen and others. This will be a very significant event that every concerned citizen should attend. It is free but donations will be accepted to defray the costs of the event and to support "The Shooting Bench".

We have once again made arrangements to DOUBLE our time to a full 2 hours! The Shooting Bench is on Tuesday morning from 7:00 to 9:00 AM Mountain time. We are beginning to archive "The Shooting Bench" on our website and it is also now available via podcast. You can hear these shows here: "The Shooting Bench". With this new show comes additional expense in both money and time. We do not want to add sponsors and take up more of your time with additional ads and we do not want to start charging for the podcast. We will NOT accept sponsorship from companies that may make folks believe would influence our opinions. We will keep The Shooting Bench running as long as we are financially able to. If you would like to help us defray the added costs associated with the additional air-time, we will be setting up an online store for that purpose. The online store will contain selected items that you can purchase or you can make financial donations online. If you wish, you can also contribute by phone or mail.
